English immigrant Edward Tyrrell established Tyrrell’s Wines in 1858 in the lee of the Hunter Valley’s Brokenback Range, New South Wales. This land has become recognised as home to some of the Hunter Valley regions finest vineyards, and the basis for development of one of Australia’s most successful privately owned wine companies. Today, Tyrrell’s are a truly national wine company, premium vineyards extend from their legendary home in the Hunter Valley to other distinguished grape growing regions of Australia including McLaren Vale in South Australia and Heathcote in Victoria.
Tyrell’s Hunter Valley Range / Winemaker’s Selection is one of Australia’s oldest and most awarded collection of wines, adhering to timeless styles that transcend trends and fads. These wines, all originate from Tyrrell’s finest and oldest vineyards around their historic Pokolbin winery in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Winemaker’s Selection includes:

Tyrrell’s Hunter Heroes range consists of four distinctive wines which capture the unique interaction between a single grape variety and the specific terroir of the Hunter Valley vineyards from which they are sourced.

Tyrrell’s Single Vineyard wines under the name of the vineyard, they are only ever bottled if the vintage stands up to the quality of the site. These wines are made to capture the nuances of vineyard and vintages, “no two will ever be the same,” Bruce Tyrrell says, “that is their charm.”

Tyrrell’s on premise wine, Moore’s Creek takes its name from the spring fed creek that runs from the Brokenback Range through our HVD (Hunter Valley Distillery) and Penfoldvale vineyards. Only available through licensed food outlets and hotels, this range has been developed to provide popular taste profiles that will complement a vast array of food styles.
Tyrrell’s designed these wines for immediate enjoyment, the Old Winery promise is to provide a quality wine to suit every palate preference at a refreshingly affordable price.
Over the years, a number of wines have joined the Lost Block label, all deliberately crafted in the same soft and approachable style that has made Lost Block Semillon such a success. Lost Block wines are deliberately made to be fruit-laden, fresh, vibrant and easy to drink.
For over 150 years, Tyrrell’s has been making wine at the base of the Brokenback Range. A lot is owed to these mysterious rolling hills as they watch over us, protecting us from the extreme weather conditions that can often prevail. Mystery Hill was create for a fun, easy drinking and an affordable wine.
Tyrrell’s have a long historical association with traditionally made, bottle fermented sparkling wine. Tyrrell’s we prefer to make the fuller, richer flavoured champagne style, each of their sparkling wines are testament to.
Since 1997, Tyrrell’s historic association with the “Rufus Stone” has been utilised for our top non Hunter Valley red wines from its vineyards in Heathcote (Victoria) and McLaren Vale (South Australia). These robust and full bodied red wines demonstrate true varietal characteristics typical of their region.
Bruce Tyrrell recalls being called a lunatic when the company was looking to purchase vineyards in Heathcote, Victoria. Heathcote is now regarded as Australia’s most exciting new red wine producing region. Sourced from Heathcote, this limited release, premium red wine demonstrates exceptional flavours and richness typical of this region.
